I can't blog about something I'm not passionate about. Yes, I love learning the names of Jesus. They're wonderful and interesting. But, then I feel like when I learn something in my quiet time, I can't share it on my blog because I'm in the middle of a series, and that's just lame. So, I decided that since it's MY blog, I shouldn't be bound by a series - it should be passionate and I should care about what I'm writing about. So, today, I wanna talk about Psalm 119:73-80. (even though I have the cool reftagger thing on my blog, I'm going to type it out.)
You made me; You created me. Now give me the sense to follow Your commands. May all who fear You find in me a cause for joy, for I have put my hope in Your word. I know, O LORD, that Your regulations are fair; You disciplined me because I needed it. Now let Your unfailing love comfort me, just as You promised me, Your servant. Surround me with Your tender mercies so I may live, for Your instructions are my delight. Bring disgrace upon the arrogant people who lied about me; meanwhile, I will concentrate on Your commandments. Let me be united with all who fear You, with those who know Your laws. May I be blameless in keeping Your decrees; then I will never be ashamed.
I love this passage. It's very comforting to me. It shows how we make mistakes, and God corrects us in His love. When we allow Him to correct us, He gives us joy afterward, and everyone can see that His joy is in us. We always hear that people are watching Christians to see how they react to suffering and correction in their lives - when we react with a joyful heart, they can see Jesus in you.
In suffering, we can still beg God to surround us in His love and mercy; after all, He ALWAYS loves us and He ALWAYS treats us with mercy. When other people gossip about us, or treat us badly, focus on God's commandments. Justice belongs to Him and He will take care of you. He will hold you with His righteous right hand. After we sin, and God has corrected us, it's important that we take the proper steps to try and avoid that sin again. We can do this by memorizing verses and spending time in the Word. When we take these steps to avoid sin, we'll become closer to God and we'll feel better about ourselves too.
I know all this stuff seems like common sense, but I love this passage. And it's always good to be reminded.

That's a really uplifting passage :)I like the part about being concentrated on God's commandments. If we're focusing on them, it's a lot less likely that we'll be distracted from God's will. and I agree, you should blog about what God lays on your heart. Keep it up :)
